How About Them Peppers?!

With the Super Bowl just around the corner why not invite the peppers to your party? I am of course talking about Cayenne and Chipotle, which are great additions to food that can only enhance the flavor.

Cayenne and Chipotle are great to add as a pinch to any recipe to give that extra kick. Because of the amount of vitamin B6 that these peppers provide they are great metabolism boosters too. They also both stimulate blood flow and cayenne pepper can distract nerves from arthritis pain if applied directly to the skin. They can both provide relief of headaches as well.

Cayenne pepper can also reduce cholesterol levels, aid in stomach pains, intestinal issues and can rid sinuses of mucus.

Chipotle pepper is a great preventative for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, certain cancers, osteoporosis, macular degeneration as well as night blindness.

Cayenne Pepper is great on wings as I said in the email, so how could I not give you a wing recipe?

Baked Buffalo Chicken Wings:

3/4 cup of All Purpose Flour

1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper power

1/2 tsp Garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

20 chicken wings

1/2 cup melted butter

1/2 Hot Sauce 

In a ziploc bag combine flour, cayenne, garlic, and salt shake to combine. Then add chicken wings and shake to coat. Put in the refrigerator for an hour.

Preheat the oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit

Combine the butter and the hot sauce after an hour take wings out of the refrigerator and coat the wings in the butter mixture and place on an oven safe pan that has been sprayed with nonstick spray. Put wings in oven for 30 minutes and then take out and dip in butter mixture again and put back in the oven for another 20 minutes. This is the perfect time for chicken wings in the oven from finding out myself. They are still juicy and are slightly crispy too!

Chipotle pepper has a sweeter taste and is great to make those bar nuts that everyone loves to munch on!

Honey-Chipotle Pecans:

1/2 cup of honey 

1/4 cup Coconut Palm Sugar (Our personal preference)

1 tsp ground chipotle 

2 cups pecan halves 

Coarse Kosher Salt 

Aniseed

Boil and stir honey, sugar, and chipotle until sugar is dissolved. Add pecans and stir until the syrup begins to thicken and get dark. This can also have a little bit of smoke too.

Lay out on aluminum foil and spread with a fork and sprinkle with salt and aniseed. let cool and then serve.

The All Powerful Seeds!

Flax seed, Hemp seed and Chia seeds are a few SUPER foods that have so many benefits, including: aiding in digestion and regulation, maintain blood sugar levels, boost immune systems, and so much more. They can be added to your smoothies, juices, or shakes in the morning when you are mixing them up or add them into your spaghetti sauces, baked goods, or drinks.

Flax is probably the easiest to incorporate into your diet because it dissolves so easily. Sprinkling a tablespoon or two into your sauces are a great way to add it to your meal. They are great in the morning in a muffin or in your oatmeal. all it takes is a sprinkle to let the seed do its magic. Keeping it in a sugar bowl with a spoon on the counter is the best reminder for you. Flax seed has a nutty flavor as is also a great coating for your meat because it makes it a little bit crispier. Just use the flax seed like you would flour when you are making your meat. Baked goods are also a great way to eat this seed here is a recipe for Chocolate Chip cookies:

1 cup Butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated

1 tsp Vanilla

2 eggs beaten

2 cups All Propose Flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup Chocolate chips

1/4 cup of Flax seed

Preheat oven to 350 degree F.

Mix you dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream together sugars, butter, vanilla, and eggs in a mixer and then add you Flour mixture then add chocolate chips.

Drop cookies on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

**Be careful not to eat to many! Flax seed does make you very regular!**

**Also make sure that you have ground up your flax seed or have it already ground. Your body can not process this seed and your body will not absorb anything.**

Hemp seeds also have a nutty flavor and are great in smoothies and adds a great texture to your salads. They have all 9 of your essential amino acids, are high in protein, contains Omega-6 (GLA), as well as a high levels of zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and iron. Hemps seed are known as a complete protein because of all those mentioned details that it has for your body.

Because of the hemp seeds’ high levels of irons, it is great to treat anemia, and promote blood circulation. it also promotes bone health, treats insomnia, great source of fiber, and so much more. Hemp seeds also can help to treat cancer because of the quantity of amino acids that can help repair DNA.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 large ripe banana
2 heaping cups frozen strawberries
2 cups baby spinach
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp flax seeds
1 tbsp hemp seeds
Put all these in a blender or your vitamix and enjoy! This recipe has all the seeds from this post in it! This ensure that you have all your seeds for the day!

Chia seeds are an excellent source of fiber and are great for digestion. This powerful seed helps to regulate blood sugar, cholesterol, Control hypertension, and so much more. It is a great for circulation and is heart healthy as well as inflammatory properties. In foods chia seeds can be soaked in water and create a gel to have in cakes and cookies to eliminate the use of butter as well as be incorporated into shakes and smoothies.

There is not a recipe like a cookie or cake in particular that I have but if you are looking for a great egg substitute 1 tablespoon of chia seeds to 3 cups of water (Chia seeds need to be put into a grinder before being mixed with the water) per egg.

You can also use the ground up chia seeds and use it as a thickening agent for gravies and soups and it is gluten free so it still give you that texture without the grains.

The 3 C’s

Cardamom, Coriander, and Cinnamon. All three of these spices are great to sweeten your fruits with. they bring out the natural sugar that is in your fruits and are a much better alternative than salt because they do not affect your cholesterol levels in fact they help to reduce blood pressure and promote good cholesterol levels.

Cardamom is a good meat sweetener and is great in roasts. Cardamom is also a great spice to put into soups along with coriander. these two spices pair great together in soups, on cooked carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and so much more. Cardamom has a very strong flavor and dishes do not need much to get the taste of the spice.

Here is a recipe that incorporate both Cardamom and Coriander

2 skinless chicken breasts cut into bite sized pieces

1 Tbsp of oil (olive oil will go great)

salt and pepper to taste

1 potato chopped

1/2 cup of chopped carrots

1 tomato chopped

scant 1/2 teaspoon of roasted granulated Garlic

1 Tbsp onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/2 teaspoon coriander

1 teaspoon turmeric

1/4 teaspoon cardamom

5 teaspoons Mrs. Millers Chicken Bouillon

1/2 teaspoon Red chili pepper (optional)

1 Tbsp Flour

2 1/2 cups of water

Mix flour, salt, pepper and chicken

Cook chicken in oil until browned and then put more oil in pan and cook vegetables except for tomatoes for two minutes on each side. Add spices and tomatoes and stir for another 3 minutes.

Mix the hot water with the chicken bouillon and add to the pot with the chicken and vegetables. let boil until chicken and vegetables is cooked thoroughly.

This recipe is great for the cold days coming with winter as well as something to freeze for lunches! It is also great if you have fresh veggies from your garden and you do not know what to do with them!

To incorporate cinnamon into this delicious meal you can make some homemade applesauce to go with and a smidgen of cardamom to sweeten it up!
